The Doggie Dooley system is an in ground tank that works in a similar fashion to a normal septic tank. When installing one you need to find an ideal location and here’s what you need to look for:
- Away from house
- Away from tree roots
- Avoid lawn mower path
- Never has standing water
You also want to check the soil to be sure it isn’t too high in clay. The reason for this is because clay is not very absorbent of the liquid output from the doggie dooley.
Once you think you’ve found your location following the criteria above you’ll need to test the site. To do this dig a hole in the ground and add 5 gallons of water to it. Check back in 48 hours and if there is no more water then the location should work just fine.
After inserting your doggie dooley into the hole you’ll need to add water and digestive powder and then it’s ready to use add your dog’s stool. The great part about this is the doggie dooley does all the work, it will continue to break the waste down converting it into an environmentally safe liquid that passes into the soil.
One thing to keep in mind with your doggie dooley is that it only works in temperatures above 40° F the warmth is a necessary part of the process. So when it’s below 40° F you’ll want to stop using it, and when its warm again simply add water and digestive powder again and you’re good to go.
